In Quebec, some rooms must offer a compliant emergency exit. Clear opening size is regulated. We usually recommend a casement with an operable mullion, and egress hinges on some windows to increase the clear opening. An ACQ technical sheet is linked in our products section.

Outdoor and indoor condensation are different. Outside: good glazing keeps heat indoors, so the outer glass stays cold; on a clear humid night, fog forms — like dew on a car. It is not a defect, and it clears when the glass warms. Inside, a tighter window exchanges less air with outdoors, so humidity stays in the house. Condensation on the glass can be as frequent — if not more so — as with an older sash that “breathed.” Ventilating and controlling humidity (ideally around 30–50%) matter more than glass alone. If fog is between the panes, the sealed unit needs checking.
