Double or triple glazing?
With us, standard double is 3 mm + 3 mm; triple is 3 mm + 3 mm + 3 mm. Triple adds a layer of insulation — useful for winter comfort.
Double 6 mm + 4 mm
For noise, asymmetry matters more than the number of panes. A 6 mm + 4 mm double cuts sound clearly better than a standard double — and often better than a triple. We prioritize it when the street or traffic is the issue.
Thermal vs acoustic
On heat, 6 mm + 4 mm sits between standard double and triple. If noise is the main issue, we do not automatically “upgrade” to triple: asymmetry often does the job better.
Solarban film (solar control)
Glass with Solarban film reflects more of the sun’s rays: the house overheats less on very sunny days. In return, it also lets in a bit less useful solar heat in winter. Prefer it on highly exposed façades; be more cautious if you count on the sun to warm the room.
Grilles and ENERGY STAR®
With a grille in double glass, the window generally is no longer ENERGY STAR®. In triple with a grille, you can often stay ENERGY STAR®, depending on the configuration. We confirm it on the quote.
