Why is there water at the bottom of my window?

Often it is indoor condensation running down to the sill. Sometimes exterior drain holes are blocked. More rarely, rainwater enters through a failed joint.

How to narrow down the cause

Does the water appear mainly in winter in deep cold (condensation)? Only after rain (infiltration)? A look at the drains and caulking often solves the mystery.
