Casement or sliding window?
Casement (crank)
The sash opens outward with a crank. Often on the façade — good ventilation, excellent airtightness. The most requested type in renovations. For egress, the clear opening can be limited: we then look at a casement with an operable mullion or egress hinges.
Sliding
The sash slides without projecting in front of the opening. Often on sides and rear, more economical, ideal when outdoor space is tight.
Awning and double-hung
Awning suits more compact formats (sink, bathroom) and can stay open in the rain while offering more privacy in the bathroom. Double-hung follows a classic style and allows precise ventilation.
