Before you buy

Questions to ask before you sign a quote

A good quote is read line by line. Here are useful questions — not to “trap” the salesperson, but to compare quotes that are truly equivalent.

Product and performance

1) Exact brands and models? 2) Double or triple glazing? 3) ENERGY STAR® or not, and for which openings? 4) Colours / finishes included or optional? 5) Hardware and options (screen, grille, egress hinges) listed clearly?

Installation and site work

6) Installation included? By whom — the retailer’s crew or subcontractors? 7) What happens to the old windows? 8) Interior trim / exterior finish: what is included? 9) Who protects the floors and who cleans up after install?

Price, timelines, warranties

10) Firm price after measuring, or an estimate? 11) What fees can be added (frame repairs, enlarging)? 12) Realistic production and install timelines? 13) Manufacturer warranty vs installation warranty — who do you call if something goes wrong? 14) Deposit, balance, and when final payment is due?

At Dumoulin

We prefer a clear quote over a price that looks “too good.” Installed by our own crew (not subcontractors), and we tell you straight what is included — and what is not. We do not add surprise extras at the end, except in rare cases.
